Carli Creech
Carli was born and raised in Eureka, Ca. She plans on graduating from Humboldt State University in May 2008, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training. She is currently working on becoming certified by the National Athletic Training Association. Carli is working in the field of physical therapy at Humboldt Hand and Foot Therapy and she is working with injured and healthy athletes and individuals at HSU. She has been working at Cal Courts since 2003 as a previous front desk worker and membership representative, and currently she is group fitness instructor and personal trainer. Since Carli joined the personal training staff in 2007, she has really enjoyed working with the members one-on-one. Carli places a great deal of emphasis on proper form and core stabilization and strengthening. With her background Carli has a clear understanding of injury prevention and exercise progression. Carli plans to further her education by attending more conferences for athletic trainers and becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She believes that a good personal trainer motivates her clients to achieve their goals safely and effectively. Carli is excited about helping people make healthy choices and looks forward to making you excided too.
Gretchen Cabaniss
Gretchen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Humboldt State and a Post Baccalaureate degree in Kinesiology emphasizing in Physical Education, Exercise Science and Human Biology. She also holds certifications in Pilates Mat and Pilates Reformer instruction. As well as being a Personal Trainer, she is also a Pilates Reformer Personal Trainer and a Group Pilates Mat Fitness Instructor here at Cal Courts. She has coached Volleyball, soccer, tennis, and track and field and served as an Athletic Director for our public schools. Gretchen combines a working knowledge of muscular strength endurance with cardiovascular fitness. When designing fitness programs she seeks to improve physical strength by using the mind body philosophy to achieve over-all wellness. She looks forward to meeting with you to design a fitness program that caters to your individual needs so you can achieve your goals.
Jason Maki
Jason graduated from Humboldt State in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. He is a certified tennis professional and has coached the sport for 16 years. He also taught Physical Education at Sunny Brae Middle School for 12 years. He has an extensive background in strength training, martial arts and has taught Tai Chi at the university level. Jason has a very well rounded athletic background receiving MVP awards in both football and tennis. He looks forward to helping members attain any and all of their fitness goals.
Megan Lynch
Megan graduated magna cum laude from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Originally emphasizing in physical education and coaching, Megan went on to earn a single subject California clear teaching credential with supplementary authorization in English education; but after being offered a position with the personal training team here at Cal Courts, she decided to pursue this path. Megan is now an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and is certified through SCW as a group exercise instructor. Megan has also established a rapport and does observational work through Home Physical Therapy. She stays current in the fitness industry by attending conferences and maintaining professional memberships in both ACSM and AAHPERD; and she plans to receive continued education in nutrition counseling. Megan firmly believes in a positive mind-body connection, and she emphasizes the importance of using proper mechanics and putting the fundamentals first. Megan’s personal philosophy is that “life is all about choices!” and she looks forward to helping you make healthy ones!
Naomi Posh
Naomi graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors in May 2003 from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She received her B.A. degree in Exercise Physiology with and emphasis in Sport and Exercise Management and minors in Athletic Coaching and Business Management. Naomi grew up in Humboldt County and received her A.A. degree at College of the Redwoods while competing in intercollegiate cross country, basketball, track, and club soccer. After transferring to ASC, Naomi continued to pursue athletics at the NCAA Division II level, running track and cross country on a team that earned numerous national titles. Naomi believes that her experience as a student athletic trainer, coach, and athlete have given her valuable knowledge to help others reach their fitness goals. With specific understanding of endurance and altitude conditioning, she emphasizes injury prevention in her training approach. Naomi holds current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training. She strongly believes in fitness development through commitment, consistency, motivation, and proper progression. Naomi hopes to inspire others to improve their health and fitness by sharing her knowledge and experience as part of the Personal Training team at Cal Courts.
Jason Spangler
Jason’s Passion for fitness began right here at Cal Courts. Although involved in sports all his life, he developed a true passion for physical fitness as he began to train his own body. With over two years experience as a personal trainer, he is excited to bring his knowledge and expertise to Cal Courts. He is currently enrolled in College of the Redwoods nursing program. He intends to earn his Bachelor’s Degree as he continues his education about the human body. He has worked with adults of all ages and is excited about helping you achieve your goals. He likes to keep things upbeat and fun, but always pushes his clients to reach results. His motto is “work hard today for tomorrow’s results.”
Tami Roberts
Tami was born and raised in Eureka. She has been involved in sports and fitness for most of her life. She began her fitness career in 1994 as an aerobics instructor here at Cal Courts. She became AFAA certified in group fitness and soon ventured into kickboxing, where she became ACE certified. Tami teaches contact kickboxing, and she is also a certified cycling instructor and enjoys teaching the REVV cycling classes here at Cal Courts. Tami continues her fitness education by attending annual workshops and lectures and is an ACE certified personal trainer. Tami says, “Personal training was a natural progression for me. I have experience with group fitness as well as being a massage therapist. I have developed a good understanding of the human body and body mechanics.” Over the years, Tami has learned valuable techniques for achieving an overall successful fitness program. She is a strong motivator and is ready to help you reach your personal fitness potential.
